Cookies and your device

BenoEdu keeps a small amount on your phone or computer. Most of it is what signing in and working with no signal need. None of it tracks you around the web, and none of it is sold. There are no adverts and no advertising cookies, on the public site or inside a school.

#Change your choice

The first time you visit, you choose Accept all, Necessary only, or pick for yourself. You can change that here at any time. We ask again after six months, or sooner if this list changes.

#Necessary — always on

Without these you cannot sign in or work offline, so they cannot be switched off.

#Preferences — your choice

With preferences off, the app still does what you ask. It just forgets when you close the browser. Turning preferences off later does the same to what it had kept: the setting goes when the browser closes.

#Analytics — none

BenoEdu does not use any analytics today. The switch is there so that, if we ever add them, they start off for everybody, and nobody who already chose is opted in without being asked.

#What is kept for working offline

These are not cookies, but they are kept on your device, and you should know about them. They are what lets a register be taken with no signal.

• Your offline copy. Your classes, rosters and marks for the classes you teach or take, and anything waiting to be sent: a register, marks, a quiz. They are kept in the browser's own storage and are never sent anywhere except your school.
• Pages and files. Pages you opened this week, and anything you pressed Save for offline on, so they open with no connection.
• The school box. On a school with a school box, which box this device syncs with.

On a shared computer the offline copy is locked with a key that exists only while the browser is open. Once it closes, nobody can read what is left, and the next sign-in clears it. On your own phone it stays readable, like every other app on it, so the next morning's register works before the line comes up.

#Clearing everything

Your browser's settings can delete everything BenoEdu has kept. Look for site data or cookies and site data for this address. Anything still waiting to be sent is lost when you do that, so open This device in the app first and check it says nothing is waiting.
